One problem I've always had with using pixels is making clearer the difference between species that might be similar to one another in appearance.

For one example, even though Askrat (the tall wolfy guy only wearing shorts) and Fattywolf both appear wolfish. Only Fattywolf is a true anthropomorphic humanoid wolf. Askrat is an Arakkan an alien species of my creation and right now that fact isn't made really clear. What I tried instead was showing bit different speech pattern, Askrat doesn't use contractions in his speech and he sounds a bit more formal, indicating he's had to learn English because he would usually speak his own alien language.

And I'm even further complicating species identification with that little girl up there, she's not a wolf either nor an Arakkan but yet another wolf like species I have called rymskas who belong to a bigger species called Rytonas. But I'll explain in another comic how I try to differentiate between them.
